In case you're not familiar with Sabicas (1912-90), he was one of the greatest flamenco guitarists of the 20th century and a major influence on all his successors, most notably Paco de Lucía.This 1972 album is (as far as I know) only available on CD in this Japanese edition, and is thus a rarity. It's labelled mono, but in fact it's stereo. The contents are as follows:01) Guadalquivir02) Soleares «Alma Gaditana»03) Alegrias «Compases flamencos»04) Zapateado05) Granaínas «Peña La Platería»06) Danza Mora «Ensueno arabe»07) Colombiana «De los rizos de tu pelo»08) Siguiriyas «Taconeo gitano»09) Malagueña «Torremolinos»10) Fandangos de Huelva «El conguero»Sabicas's brother Diego plays second guitar, on several tracks the marvellous Adela la Chaqueta sings, Rosario de la Mejorana dances. It's a very atmospheric album.Nine of these tracks are also available on La Guitarra De Sabicas, along with nine more from Flamenco!!.
